Hey,Currently working on a new mixed media artwork. This time I'm using oil painting on top of the giclee and collage work. Slowly building the depth of the image. A world of fun.  To be continued.CheersZ.[gallery link="file" columns="4" orderby="title"]

WATER

Hi,If one can get his inspiration from dramatic events, then I guess I was pretty freaking inspired on that one.I just wanted to help,  and I thought that it was a nice way to do so. All profits from the sells of this highly limited edition will go to the RED CROSS, in order to help Japan going through that crisis. This is based on a photoshot I made a couple of months ago, with my friend Tayla. Second image in collaboration with the lady.Hope you'll enjoy. CheersZ.

Hey ho !Here's a new one. I made this photo-shoot  in early January and while browsing the folder a few days ago, I noticed that one pict in particular. The photo itself was awful but I felt that it had some potential for a little moody scene.Photoshop, Painter, calm at night, I took my time (altogether, I'd say 7 hours) and even if it's a small image, I wanted to be able to eventually print it (10-12", something like that).Playing with fire on the framing but I feel that it works nicely.Hope you'll enjoy !Z.And a little crop :

QUANTUM LEAP

Posted on Friday, February 25th at 01:08:12

hey !Here's a new one. Even though it was a little faster to finish than my previous image, Bonnie&Clyde, I still think it took me a little too long anyway. For my defense, it's printer friendly and something like 4k.I'm gonna try to change a few things in my process, we'll see where it leads me to. Stay tuned.Feel free to drop a line, or leave a comment on the facebook page, share it, eat it ... and you'll make me happy.CheersZ.

Bonnie & Clyde

Posted on Monday, January 31st at 17:35:16

Ah those two... Guess I will have to make many more images, but let's say that's one take on the subject.A strange process, endless, that doesn't look like so. I kept changing my mind all the time, on the pose, on the faces, on the dynamic, etc... So it was a constant startover almost. I ... I wanted to learn a few things while making this one I guess.I've added two closeups in the gallery at the bottom.I hope you'll enjoy. if the feedback's positif, I'll see if I can make a print out of it. Therefor, don't be shy :)Cheers,Z.[gallery link="file" columns="4" orderby="title"]

Marne, Noël 2010

Posted on Saturday, January 8th at 18:10:08

Hi there,Just a quick sketch from my recent visit to France. Cold is my nemesis. I hate it. It saddens me to the bones. But still, there's something about nature in those moments. Might make a few of these. Wanted a "journal" quality to it, althought it's digital. I should have a real journal. I'm lame.PROCESS : low res doodle - scale up - doodle - scale up - texture - doodle - up - color tweaks - levels (crank 'em bastards) - doodle - up - etc... half way through -> Painter for some quick water blender tweaks and a couple of thick impasto strokes because I like it like that. Back to Photoshop, mixed with the rest, curves and stuff. I mask out the edges and blend the result on a nice paper scan. Done ! Approx 1h. 5K. Printer friendly. Yeah.Added a few closeups that kind of explain this overlay of various resolutions. Something I'm working on, that I like, that you can actually see in most of my images since 2 years.FUN FACT : Some professional printing websites consider those resolution changes as being only artefacts. Therefor they won't print nor represent my works. Yes you INPRNT! Too bad. They actually told me that I could look for other people's work and change my process. That's cute.Clic the thumbnails below for some kickass closeups.Kudoz.Z.[gallery link="file" columns="4" orderby="title"]

Ho Ho Ho ! You ain't gonna get no snow.

Posted on Sunday, December 19th at 08:41:55

Hello there. The upcoming weeks are going to be intense so I'd better post all that now. Gonna fly back to France soon, and hang out with my folks for a while. Hopefully I will survive the cold weather and the orgy of cheese, the wine and the temptation over cigarettes.I had some intense weeks of work at Luma, which might explain the lack of productivity in regards of my personal stuff. There's a few images in progress, it's moving forward and all. Just ... slower.I should spend more time finding exhibition gigs but this whole PR thing is a real pain to deal with and doesn't really turn me on either.Mmmm. What else ?It's been 3 years since my first visit in Venice. Insane how fast it went ! I guess I'm getting used to the way things work now. As you start to understand people, you enjoy a little more the interaction and it gets easier to work, live, have fun, whatever. This industry is a fucked up place to be, but once in a while it's a blast. The opportunities I've had since I moved over here are pretty sweet I will share a recent and exciting experience with you shortly.Working on those realistic matte paintings, concept designs, gore subjects (Fright night, me kill vampires, True Gritt, me killed cowboys, Thor, me ... ) is forcing me to work my drawing/painting shit. I'm getting better at it and feel a little more comfortable with my weak drawing skills these days.So here is a little greeting card. I hope you'll enjoy. I saved a few variations, you might prefer one or the other. And there's this solo bonus of Le Chiffre, my fellow cat. I don't know - he's just funny to draw that cute bastard !Take care folks and folkettes.Z.El-gato-orangeado

Brandon Mouche is back... from the dead ?

Posted on Tuesday, August 31st at 17:11:29

Hey ho !Put on hold for months due to... life and such, this silkscreen project is back on track and should be ready on time for my solo show in L.A. at the end of the month.I changed a lot of things in the image but the spirit hopefuly remains the same.Festo Do Espirito Santo is going to be a very limited series, 20 max, in 4 colors including gold. Yeah, I though a little bling bling wouldn't hurt on this. The paper is a thick classy Montval.Tête de Mort will be in charge for the silkscreen process. Bless you fella. There's gonna be a thick margin around. Kinda like this :Cheers,Z.

because eventually, it had to start somewhere.

Posted on Sunday, August 8th at 18:04:11

Yesterday I received the first two prints I ordered, on some nice thick premium paper. Then I went to the framestore to grab the plywood. Earlier that very day I bought some acrylic, varnish, brushes...First, it costed me an arm (and a shirt too but it's because I always forget to put shitty clothes when I work) since printing on paper nowadays is more expensive than printing on canvas. Then, when it was about time slice the print with razorblade, sculpting spikes and other torture items, tear it appart, destroy it, add paint and varnish and other funky analog shit, I was really damn scared. As far as it gets from the control I usually have over things with my weapon of choice, aka A COMPUTER.Anyway. If that's what it takes to end up with an interresting crossover, let's go for it.To be continued. I'm actually curious to see where this will lead me piece after piece.WIP Lucida Von Halleria.Z.WIP closeups.[gallery link="file" orderby="title"]

ARTWORKS ON SALE -> LEEWIART (China)

Posted on Sunday, June 27th at 00:29:13

Hi folks and folkettes,A few months ago I went to an exhibition of Andrew Jones, a few meters (it's like a yard but classier) away from work.I was particularly attracted by a couple of artworks printed on raw silk. There was something beautifully sober, deep, vibrant about those (the subject helped).Andrew put me in touch with this Chinese company he happened to work with and a little less than 10 days after that I was a newly contracted artist at LEEWIART.From now on, 10 of my artworks are available for sale up there on this nice raw silk I dig. Old stuff, new stuff, the selection we made is eclectic. Here's the result on Innoncence, Marta. I highly recommand BRIMESTONE ROCK in that edition ! Chop chop !Z.LEEWIART HERE[gallery link="file" orderby="title"]
